Helping Israel's Children Heal

The war has changed everything. For Israel’s children, the trauma is not over.

Since October 7th, Israeli children have faced unthinkable fear—sirens, evacuations, loss, and a world turned upside down. Many still live under constant threat. Others have been displaced from their homes. All carry invisible scars.

In recent months, the threat has only escalated. With missiles launched from Iran and its proxies in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, no corner of Israel feels truly safe. Entire communities spend nights in shelters. Children fall asleep to sirens—and wake up in fear.

Shlavim is on the front lines—quietly, urgently—equipping the people children trust most: their teachers.

We’ve launched an emergency nationwide initiative to train principals and teachers—via Zoom and in-person—to identify trauma, create emotionally safe classrooms, and help children process what they’ve endured.

In the past few year alone:
• Over 500 educators have joined our trauma-awareness training
• Live Zoom workshops allow teachers from across the country to join in real time—even from shelters or displacement zones
•School leaders receive tailored support to implement trauma-informed practices school-wide

This is not just professional development. It’s emotional triage. It’s national resilience.

When a child breaks down in class, freezes during a drill, or lashes out in fear—Shlavim-trained teachers know how to respond. They know how to listen. They know what not to say. And they know how to guide that child toward healing.

The need is growing every day. So is our response.

Help us continue this urgent work. With your support, we can train thousands more educators and provide real-time emotional support where it’s needed most.  Give Israel’s children the gift of safety, healing, and hope—starting in the classroom.
